PT SGI Strengthened Contributions to Local Communities Throughout 2024

PT Sokoria Geothermal Indonesia (SGI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the well-being of communities surrounding the Sokoria Geothermal Working Area (WKP) through various corporate social and environmental responsibility programs. Throughout 2024, SGI has carried out numerous initiatives to support education, culture, infrastructure, and the local economy, contributing to the progress of communities around the working area of Sokoria.

In order to enhance students’ knowledge of geothermal energy, PT SGI conducted an educational outreach program at SMPN Sekolengo Sokoria. This initiative aimed to provide students with insights into the potential of geothermal electricity in their village, as well as the management and utilization of geothermal energy as a natural resource that can support the development of Sokoria Village and Ende Regency. Additionally, PT SGI contributed to the implementation of the Computer-Based National Assessment at SDK Sokoria 1 by providing a wireless network, ensuring students could take their online exams without technical difficulties. This initiative was complemented by safety briefings and procedural training for working in geothermal project areas.

Beyond education, PT SGI also supported cultural development through a traditional dance training program for children in Sokoria Village. Under the guidance of art instructors, children received training every Sunday to deepen their understanding of traditional dances that represent their cultural identity. This initiative aimed to instill pride in their heritage while fostering creativity among the younger generation.

PT SGI is also actively involved in maintaining local infrastructure as part of its commitment to community well-being. One such effort includes the maintenance of water reservoirs and pipelines in Leledala Hamlet, ensuring a reliable supply of clean water for local residents. Furthermore, SGI carried out repairs on several damaged and pothole-ridden sections of the Saga-Sokoria access road using concrete pavement. These improvements were undertaken to enhance safety and accessibility to Sokoria Village, particularly after road conditions deteriorated due to heavy rainfall.

Throughout 2024, PT SGI has consistently contributed to the local economy by collaborating with local businesses. These efforts include leasing operational vehicles, sourcing local materials for project needs, and hiring unskilled labor from the local community. Additionally, PT SGI provided production bonuses from electricity generation at the Sokoria Geothermal Power Plant, which were paid to the Ende Regional Government as part of the company’s contribution to regional development and community welfare.

PT SGI remains committed to making a positive impact by supporting the advancement and well-being of the surrounding communities. With a strong dedication to community empowerment and sustainability, SGI aims to foster harmonious relationships with local communities while driving inclusive and sustainable growth in the WKP Sokoria area.
