					SMGP Discusses Local Solutions for Net Zero Emissions in FGD with API and EBTKE

October 15, 2024 – PT Sorik Marapi Geothermal Power (SMGP), a subsidiary of KS Orka, participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the Indonesian Geothermal Association (API) in collaboration with the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE). The FGD aimed to discuss the role of geothermal energy as a local solution for achieving Net Zero Emissions.

The discussion was attended by representatives from the Indonesian Geothermal Association (API), the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM), academics, and media professionals.

Ali Sahid, Head of Geothermal Engineering (KTPB) at SMGP, was one of the speakers at the discussion. He shared insights on addressing social issues through SMGP’s Community Development and Community Relations programs in the Sorik Marapi Geothermal Working Area (WKP) in Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra Province.

In building relationships with communities around the working area, SMGP focuses on mapping issues and stakeholders, managing community expectations, and implementing various community development initiatives.

SMGP’s participation in this discussion reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting Net Zero Emission targets through renewable energy solutions and community-based approaches. SMGP will continue to innovate and collaborate with stakeholders, particularly local communities, to ensure that the benefits of geothermal energy are widely felt while contributing to environmental sustainability.
